Today, we’re introducing a structured volume field to remove dimensional dependencies in pack and case configuration in OrderEase. We’ve added Volume as a first-class data field for pack and case sizes. Suppliers can now define explicit volume values for products like liquids, gases, drums, and barrels.
Common Constraint in Product Dimensions
Many inventory and order management systems assume that every product can be defined dimensionally, with length × width × height used to calculate the product's cubic volume.Liquids, compressed gases, industrial chemicals, food service ingredients, and bulk materials are frequently sold by fill volume rather than physical dimensions. Cylinders may share identical dimensions but contain different quantities. Drums and barrels represent standardized volumetric measures independent of carton math. When systems require dimensional dependency, teams are forced into spreadsheet overrides, manual conversions, or inaccurate modeling that compromises freight calculations, storage planning, and reporting.OrderEase now introduces Volume as a first-class data field within pack and case configuration. This removes the structural requirement to derive quantity from dimensional math and eliminates operational workarounds, while maintaining governance, reporting consistency, and ERP alignment.
How It Works

Pack and case objects inside OrderEase now support a dedicated Volume attribute stored directly on the configuration record. This field operates independently from dimensional inputs, allowing suppliers to define explicit volume values at the pack or case level without relying on derived cubic calculations.Volume no longer needs to be inferred from box geometry. It can serve as the authoritative unit of measure for products whose dimensions are irrelevant or misleading.

Because volume is embedded within the structured product object, records remain searchable, reportable, and exportable, and they are aligned with ERP and fulfillment integrations. Downstream systems receive accurate quantity data without requiring reconciliation logic or custom translation layers.
Strengthening Operational Infrastructure
By allowing explicit volume modeling, OrderEase strengthens the operational integrity of volume-driven supply chains.Structured data remains governed at the core and consistent across reporting, integrations, freight calculations, and fulfillment workflows.
