Metro EDI Integration

Preconfigured Metro EDI Connection, Synced to Your ERP

Canadian grocery retailer Metro buys from suppliers by EDI and expects an invoice back the same way. OrderEase's Metro connection is live in production, so each purchase order lands in your ERP or storefront ready to fulfill, and the 997 acknowledgement goes back automatically.

How to Meet Metro's EDI Requirements

Metro sends each purchase order as an 850. OrderEase acknowledges it with a 997 automatically, pushes the order into your ERP or storefront, and sends the 810 invoice once the order has shipped and been invoiced.

Supported Metro EDI Documents:

  • 850 – Purchase Order (from Metro)
  • 810 – Invoice
  • 997 – Functional Acknowledgement

    * Additional documents can be added based on retailer or distributor requirements.

Why Suppliers Choose OrderEase for Metro EDI Integration

Only the Documents Metro Uses

The Metro connection covers the 850, 997 and 810. For warehouse deliveries there is no 855 or 856 to build, so there is less to set up and less to go wrong.

Acknowledgements Sent for You

OrderEase sends the 997 for every Metro purchase order automatically, so nobody has to acknowledge orders by hand.

Certification on the First Live Order

Metro certifies suppliers on their first production transaction instead of through a separate test portal. OrderEase sets up your connection with your ISA/GS IDs and monitors the first live orders through to the invoice.

Metro EDI Capabilities

EDI Error Detection and Compliance Validation

Validation Before Sending

OrderEase checks each 810 for format and required fields before it reaches Metro, so a missing field gets fixed before it becomes a rejection.

ERP and Storefront Integration

ERP and Storefront Integration

Metro orders flow into Shopify and the ERP or accounting system you already run, with no rekeying.

Multi-partner EDI support

Multi-Partner Support

The same EDI connection carries Metro alongside your other retail and distributor partners, each with its own document set, so the next one is configuration rather than a new build.

EDI Integration FAQs

Have questions about trading with Metro by EDI? Find answers on the documents OrderEase supports, how Metro certification works, what Metro needs from you before your first order and how orders reach your ERP.

Which EDI documents does OrderEase support for Metro?

OrderEase supports 3 EDI documents for Metro. Metro sends the 850 purchase order. OrderEase returns the 997 functional acknowledgement automatically and sends the 810 invoice once the order has shipped and been invoiced. For warehouse deliveries, Metro does not use an 855 or 856.

How does Metro EDI certification work?

Metro certifies suppliers on their first production transaction, so there is no separate test portal. Once your ISA/GS IDs are in place and your first live purchase order arrives, OrderEase monitors it through the 997 and the 810.

What does Metro need from me before my first order?
Metro asks for your production ISA/GS IDs before it sends purchase orders. OrderEase sets up the IDs for your connection so you can pass them to Metro.
Can Metro orders go straight into our ERP or Shopify store?
Yes. OrderEase maps each Metro 850 to your item codes and pushes it into your ERP or Shopify store, then sends the 810 invoice once the order has shipped and been invoiced in your system.
